In 2007 Jan, Ronel and their 3 daughters fell in love with this awesome Bushveld farm in the Waterberg. The farm had 2 houses and they decided to convert the 2nd home into a unit and that is where it all started.
“Pumula” is the Zulu word for “Place of Rest”, they decided that it was a suitable name for this place where they experienced so much rest. In 2009 after the renovations were done, the unit that is now known as Jabulani was born. Jabulani means “Joy” in Zulu.
They soon realized that guests enjoyed the peacefulness of the farm and it was decided to add another 2 one bedroom suites. Thanda and Thulile was born in June 2011. Thanda means “Love” and Thulile means “Peace” in Zulu. Guests enjoy these two modern units and feel part of the bushveld surroundings when they stay here.
On June 2013 the old Horse barn was converted to the main dwelling and a Reception was added to welcome guests. It was also in 2013 that they were awarded a 4 Star grading with the TGCSA. In December 2013 they welcomed their first guests to the 8 bed family unit, Themba. Themba means “Hope” in Zulu. Guests enjoy this luxurious unit with its large open spaces.
It is their wish that every guest that stays at Pumula Lodge, will experience the Hope, Peace, Love and Joy, because without these four you will never experience Rest…
